Job Description: Bend Oregon
Job Title:        Destination Sales Director
Work Schedule:    40 hours per week
Reports To:    President/CEO

The Destination Sales Director for Visit Bend is responsible for :

promoting Bend and Central Oregon as a desirable destination for groups, conferences, conventions, incentive travel and events.

The Destination Sales Director will be responsible for lead generation, lead qualification, solicitation of groups, conferences, meetings and incentive travel in specific geographic markets throughout the United States through personal sales calls,  telemarketing, direct mail, familiarization tours, site visits, bid proposals and trade show involvement.   This position is also responsible for public relations activities involving local hotels/motels, facilities, meeting planners and other related representatives, and coordinating destination efforts with the existing sales teams within Bend.  Additionally, the Destination Sales Director will solicit event producers to bring their events to Bend.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1.  The primary responsibility of the Destination Sales Director is to generate group, conference, meeting and incentive travel leads in the priority markets of Oregon, Washington, California and Bend's direct  flight markets.  Secondary target markets will include the national  market and other geographic markets established for Visit Bend.

 2.  The secondary responsibility of the Destination Sales Director is to coordinate the destination sales effort with existing Bend sales forces; leading monthly/quarterly DOS meetings, organizing and  executing FAM tours for meeting planners, and coordinating destination cooperatives for meetings, conventions & conferences.

3.  Other responsibilities and duties of this position include the following:  draft and execute a comprehensive destination sales plan for each fiscal year and provide weekly updates to the President/CEO  as that plan is executed, develop and maintain the group & conference content on www.visitbend.com, represent the destination within appropriate trade organizations, work with the Visit Bend Team to  design and produce group & conference sales collateral for the  destination, support the Visit Bend Team at events and tradeshows,  maximize presence and awareness in the business community by attending industry networking events, develop and implement familiarization tours and site tours for prospective meeting planners.  

 Job Requirements:

 1.  A minimum of 5 years experience in the the tourism industry as a  DOS or Sales Manager selling on behalf of a destination marketing  organization, hotel or resort. 

 2.  Abachelors or masters degree from an accredited university.

 3.  This position requires travel 25% of the time.

4.  Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
